Why April 20？ The UN Chinese Language Day，which falls on April 20，started in 2010.The date was picked because of guyu（grain rain），the 6th of 24 solar terms（節(jié)氣）.It was to pay tribute to Cang Jie（倉頡），who is said to be the inventor of Chinese characters.As the old story says，when Cang Jie invented Chinese characters，the gods cried and grain rain fell from the sky.From then on，Chinese people celebrated guyu in memory of Cang Jie.
