   We went into a classroom where there were about 20 children who looked extremely busy.I spotted a girl with dark hair that was almost black.I couldn't see her face，as her back was turned toward me.In that moment，she turned around and looked at me.In a flash，we recognized each other.It was the girl from the corner grocery store where we first met!We instantly rushed into each other's arms like long-separated sisters，sentences in German flowing between us like a volcano of connection.My anxiety disappeared and I smiled.
"My name is Annelies.You can call me Anne，" she said.
   As two little girls who didn't know Dutch，we were thrilled to find each other，and I didn't even notice when my relieved mother walked silently out of the door.Anne was also new to the school.Her family had recently arrived from Germany.I was shy.On the contrary，Anne was outgoing and optimistic，having no difficulty adapting to a new environment and getting along with others despite the language barrier.
   When we went home after school，Anne and I were thrilled to discover we were also next-door neighbors.It took me less than a minute to race up to Anne's apartment，which was a floor above ours.Then every day we walked the ten minutes to school together.
   Soon we became good friends and I knew a lot about Anne：she was a girl of confidence and great determination，with an aim to become a director.That was why she loved seeing films.She told me her father was a writer and would rent a projector （放映機） on her birthday.I was touched by her father's love.I was curious what her father was like.
