Yuan Longping was born in Beijing in September 1930.After graduating from Southwest Agricultural College  in 1953，he was devoted to raising rice yield and helping to solve the hunger problem of the country and the world.He succeeded.The hybrid rice was developed in 1973.In 2020 he was awarded the medal of the Republic.
In spite of his great achievements，Yuan Longping was indifferent to fame and wealth and he often called himself an old farmer.In his free time，he  loved to listen to music，played mahjong，swam and read.What is a pityis that he died on May 22，2021，which was the loss of our country.
