• 3．The Chinese have a long tradition of art．They began making art thousands of years ago．The major Chinese art forms are calligraphy（書法），painting，pottery（陶藝）and sculpture（雕塑）．
  Calligraphy

  Painting

  Pottery
     Pottery is pots and dishes made with clay．It is the oldest art form in China．During the Neolithic era，people began farming and living in villages．They made a lot of pottery for daily use．
  Sculpture
     Traditional Chinese sculptures create their works mainly in two ways - carving and casting（鑄造）．Carving is a method to shape a sculpture by removing its raw material（原料）．Sculptors use knives to carve sculptures from wood，bamboo and different kinds of stones．Casting is a process of creating a sculpture using molten（熔化的）metals and moulds（鑄型）．
