Pete Richards' shop had come down to him from his grandfather.In the little front window，gold rings，silver earrings，necklaces and other beautiful jewelries were displayed.
On a sunny winter afternoon，a little girl was standing before the window，her forehead against the glass，studying each treasure，as if she were looking for something quite special.Finally she straightened up with a satisfied smile and entered the store.Behind the counter stood Pete himself，a man not more than 30.
"Mister，would you please show me that blue necklace in the window？" the little girl asked eagerly. "It's just perfect，" she said，entirely to herself.
Pet elf ted out the necklace. "Are you buying it for someone？" Pete asked.
"It is for my sister.She takes care of me.You see，this will be the first Christmas since Mother died.I've been looking for the most wonderful present for my sister.Will you wrap it up pretty for me，please？"
"How much money do you have？" asked Pete.
The little girl poured out a handful of pennies on the counter and explained， "I emptied my bank."
Pete looked at her thoughtfully.Then he carefully drew back the necklace.The price tag（標簽）was visible to him but not her.How could he tell her？ "Just a minute，" he said，and turned towards the back of the store.Here placed the price tag with a new one.Over his shoulder he called， "What's your name？"
