      For Kaycee，these animals were in need of a loving and permanent home.In the chain-link fences of the shelter，no animal could feel truly at home.Still，Kaycee hoped that her actions would help give a sense of certainty and a source of love for these lonely creatures.Yet，as she would find out，the act of caring for animals may end up bringing light and warmth to your life as well.
      One Saturday，while making her rounds at the animal shelter，Kaycee noticed a middle-aged man who was looking for a dog to adopt.After caring for so many dogs with rough pasts and a history of abusive（虐待的） treatment，Kaycee recognized a similar pain in the man's eyes as he wandered through the halls of the shelter，almost in a daze（迷茫） himself.
      After showing the man around for half an hour，Kaycee finally took him aside and asked， "Do you mind if I ask what's wrong？You seem to be in pain from something."
