  For many people who love being scared，watching horror films is a good choice.But why？

     Coltan Scrivner，a professor at the University of Chicago，argues that people who watch horror films know more about how to control tjye.aimselves.He，in a study，found it easier for horror fans to calm down during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic than others.
     Also，some fans think they could survive the events on screen.That gives those fans a sense that they can solve the problems in the films.They often laugh at the typical tropes of horror films.Why do the characters try to escape the masked killer by running upstairs and being alone？The characters often make terrible decisions that lead to their deaths decisions the fans wouldn't make at all.
     So，whether it's to help fans control themselves or to feel wiser than the characters，there are many reasons for them to love horror films.If these films really scare you，maybe it's better to watch them with the lights on.
