The main reason for this is that people's lifestyles have changed.They spend less time outdoors and more time looking at screens.Around 70 percent of people in China spend 11 hours of the waking day either sitting or lying down.Fewer people are getting as much exercise as they should during the pandemic.This is harming (損害)their eyes. To protect students' eyesight,the Chinese government has worked out new requirements for school supplies and equipment that will take effect (生效) on March 1,2022.For example,according to the requirements,the size of text in students' textbooks should be no smaller than nine-point (小五號). Teachers should also avoid using projectors (投 影儀) or other multimedia equipment (多媒體設備) that are too bright,Beijing Daily reported.There are also requirements for desk and classroom lights.For example,these lights should give off as little blue light as possible. What about other rules?The government has taken steps to protect students' eyesight in Chjye.aia.In May 2020,the National Health Commission urged (要求) schools to make sure that students have at least two hours of outdoor activity a day.
