22.Lei Feng,a young soldier who died in an accident in 1962 at the age of 22,has been a cultural symbol of selflessness,modesty (謙虛) and dedication (奉獻(xiàn)) all over China for 60 years.On March 3,Wu Hongyuan,the 93-year-old song writer of the famous song Learn From the Role Model Lei Feng,started a new project in Beijing.He called for people to write their own lyrics (歌詞),for the song.It is regarded as a way to remind people,especially the young,to keep the spirit of Lei Feng alive.
In fact,it took Wu only two hours to finish his lyrics. "I was a young songwriter at the time.I was very excited about the job but didn't know where to start.So I read all the materials about Lei,such as newspaper reports.The process (過程) was smooth and natural," Wu recalls.
"There were many ordinary people making contributions to the country's development,whose stories made them role models?" Wu said, "I was moved and encouraged by them and wanted to write songs to express my respect and love.The song for Lei is my favourite one among them."
People working in different fields,such as drivers,nurses as well as young students,shared new lyrics for the song.Through the project,people express their own understanding of the spirit of Lei Feng.
