          • 11.Within weeks of its launch,ChatGPT started a new global race in artificial intelligence(AI).The chatbot is a part of a fresh wave of generative AI—complicated systems that produce content from text to images—that is set to have a great impact on Big Tech, industries and the future of work in a decade.
As an artificial-intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI,an AI research company,ChatGPT was released in November 2022,which can have conversations, generate poetry, and suggest edits to computer programming code. The second half of its name,GPT,stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer.Transformers are specialized algorithms(算法),learning to predict not just the next word in a sentence but also the next sentence in a paragraph and the next paragraph in an essay. This is what allows it to stay on topic for long stretches of text.
ChatGPT is trained on a vast number of articles, websites and social-media posts from the Internet as well as real-time conversations with people. It learns to mimic the grammar and structure of the writing and reflects frequently-used phrases. But it isn't always accurate:its sources aren't fact-checked,and it relies on human feedback to improve its accuracy.
OpenAI developed ChatGPT as part of a strategy to build AI software that will help the company turn a profit. In January,Microsoft, its strategic partner, announced a fresh multibillion-dollar investment in OpenAI and said it plans to integrate ChatGPT into its Bing search app and other products.Google and Baidu are also pushing to launch similar tools.
ChatGPT has reached 100 million users just two months after launch.Despite its sudden burst in popularity, the technology currently has serious limitations and potential risks that include giving misinformation and breaking laws on intellectual property(知識產權).

(1)What is ChatGPT able to do?

            A.Produce texts.
            B.Create pictures.
            C.Develop robots.
            D.Perform operations.
(2)What does the underlined word"mimic"in paragraph 3 mean?

            A.Define.
            B.Introduce.
            C.Copy.
            D.Ignore.
(3)What is OpenAI's main purpose of developing ChatGPT?

            A.To build company image.
            B.To improve work efficiency.
            C.To offer translation service.
            D.To make more money.
(4)Which statement might the author agree with?

            A.AI will dominate human life.
            B.ChatGPT should be used properly.
C.AI is unlikely to pose risks to people.
D.ChatGPT should be extended to every field.

          • 12.A year ago,we bought our son a bike for his birthday. In this way he could stay more active.Plus,we didn't have to push a tricycle around the neighborhood.
I thought he even wanted to sleep with his bike.He got on,rode, and had a huge smile on his face. When we went out for a walk,he would ask me politely if he could ride his bike.I said yes. Then he would play for a long time and didn't want to go home.He rode in every season:winter, spring, summer and fall.
This year,we had him join in a program called SprocKids started by our local mountain bike club.As you can imagine,my little mountain biker showed great interest in it.On the first night,he tried riding over the obstacles(障礙物),which made me worried and frightened. One obstacle was even taller than me,but he persisted.
Later, one day,he found an old bike in the storeroom. It was mine.He called me out and said,"Mommy, will you go biking with me?" I was surprised because I hadn't biked since high school, but I decided to cycle with him.
I was highly rewarded for my efforts. On the one hand,I took part in an activity with my child. And I didn't have to do all the work by pushing or carrying him.It was an activity he loved and he told me about every path and every move excitedly. On the other hand,we developed a closer bond (關系).
In my opinion,it's very important for kids to stay active. And parents' encouragement is very important for them to stay active. But words of encouragement are not enough. It's better if parents can do a physical activity together with their kids.

            C.He changed his mind.
            D.He became frightened.

          • 13.When I was 17,I read a magazine article about a museum called the McNay,once the home of a watercolourist named Marian McNay.She had requested the community to turn it into a museum upon her death. On a sunny Saturday,Sally and I drove over to the museum. She asked,"Do you have the address?" "No,but I'll recognize it,there was a picture in the magazine."
               "Oh,stop.There it is!"
The museum was free.We entered, excited.A group of people sitting in the hall stopped talking and stared at us.
"May I help you?" a man asked."No," I said."We're fine." Tour guides got on my nerves. What if they talked a long time about a painting you weren't that interested in?Sally had gone upstairs. The people in the hall seemed very nosy (愛窺探的),keeping their eyes on me with curiosity. What was their problem?I saw some nice sculptures in one room.Suddenly I sensed a man standing behind me."Where do you think you are? " he asked.I turned sharply."The McNay Art Museum!" He smiled, shaking his head."Sorry, the McNay is on New Braunfels Street." "What's this place?" I asked, still confused."Well,it's our home." My heart jolted (震顫).I raced to the staircase and called out,"Sally!Come down immediately!"

She stepped down, looking confused.I pushed her toward the front door, waving at the family, saying,"Sorry, please forgive us.You have a really nice place." Outside, when I told Sally what happened, she covered her mouth, laughing. She couldn't believe how long they let us look around without saying anything.
The real McNay was splendid, but we felt nervous the whole time we were there.Van Gogh,Picasso. This time,we stayed together,in case anything else unusual happened.
Thirty years later,a woman approached me in a public place."Excuse me,did you ever enter a residence, long ago, thinking it was the McNay Museum?"
"Yes.But how do you know?We never told anyone."
"That was my home.I was a teenager sitting in the hall. Before you came over,I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in.I never felt lucky before. You thought it was a museum. My feelings about my home changed after that.I've always wanted to thank you."

          • 14.    For motorcycle enthusiasts, nothing beats the excitement of riding your motorcycle on the open highway with the wind on your back. With gas prices going up,motorcycles are economical and a much greener way to travel.
Along with the benefits comes the risk of personal injury if an accident occurs. After all, you're not protected by steel like you are while driving your car.But besides wearing a helmet, the latest safety innovations are personal airbags that you can wear.
Airbags have been protecting people in car accidents for decades. Now,a Swedish company,Mo'cycle, has made jeans that can be filled with air for motorcycle riders. The jeans are designed to offer protection for the rider's lower body in case of an accident. The airbag jeans look like conventional pants and are reusable. They are made of a special material which is stronger and weighs less than steel. The airbag component is removable and the jeans can be washed, dried, and worn again.
The jeans help to reduce damage from roadways after a fall. The airbags help cushion(級沖) the rider if he or she falls off the jye.aitorcycle.Mo'cycle teamed up with airbag technology company Helite to design and produce the airbags. The airbags are actually built into the jeans and are triggered(觸發) in milliseconds if the rider is separated from the vehicle.
This innovative technology is designed to safeguard motorcycle riders by protecting the lower body areas that have not been previously covered, like the riders' upper legs, the lower waist, and especially the tailbone!According to the company,"It is revolutionary to use airbag technology to protect the lower part of the backbone, because backbone injuries are what disable motorcycle riders."
Mo'cycle's airbag jeans are on sale on the company's crowdfunding campaign along with an airbag vest and a complete protection package.Making the roads safer for motorcyclists is certainly a worthy effort. So the next time you have an urge to ride, make sure you put on protective device before you hit the open road.

(1)Why are airbags in cars mentioned in Paragraph 3?

A.To illustrate how to use airbags.
            B.To compare cars and motorcycles.
C.To introduce the topic of airbag jeans.
D.To show the best way to protect drivers.
(2)What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us about the airbag jeans?

            A.Their production and sales.
            B.Their designs and appearance.
            C.Their materials and components.
            D.Their functions and working principle.
(3)What do we know about Mo'cycle's airbag jeans from the last paragraph?

            A.They are available.
            B.They need to be improved.
            C.They keep passers-by safe.
D.They inspire an urge to ride.
(4)What can be the best title of this text?

            A.Safety Rules for Motorcyclists
            B.Airbag Jeans for Motorcyclists
            C.Risks that Motorcyclists Face
            D.Innovation in the Clothing Industry

          • 15.we are all social emotional beings and throughout our lives,we will continue to shape our behaviors and relationships. However, for lifelong well-being,the development of social emotional skills should be shaped wisely as a child opens its eyes to the world. Here are some strategic actions that will help you guide your child in improving their social emotional learning skills.
               (1)
If they are crying, tell them "you look sad" or "it looks like you are mad right now." This way you can reflect their emotions to them with words and help them understand and express their emotions too.
Approve your children's feelings.Instead of saying "Stop shouting and calm down,it's not a big deal" try to say "I know you are really angry right now but we can talk about it."(2)

Give your kid some space and let them experience uncomfortable feelings.Everyone feels alone or bored sometimes. (3)
This will help them tolerate disturbing feelings and situations going forward.
Accept emotions & correct behaviors. It's okay to feel angry sometimes.Eventually,we need to feel that anger in some specific situations. (4)
Teach your children that the feeling is normal, but they shouldn't be screaming loudly in a public area just because they are feeling an emotion as this may make other people uncomfortable.
               Support other cognitive skills. (5)
Scientific educational brain games apps developed by academicians like those at MentalUP are reliable and beneficial sources to improve cognitive(認知的) skills.
Every parent should keep in mind that all kids can shape and develop their social and emotional skills differently.Trying to find wavs that suit your kids' needs.interests and according to learning styles is always a better solution than blaming yourself or the kids.

A.Cognitive skills can only be acquired from classroom learning.
B.Define and put into words your children's emotions.
C.However,it is never acceptable to show behaviors.
D.Teach them how to handle those feelings instead of avoiding them.
E.This way you can show them that it's sometimes okay to have big feelings.
F.Social emotional learning also improves students' attitudes towards school.
G.Improving mathematical and problem-solving skills will also support children's social emotional development.

"I hate Tuesdays," said Finn. "Tuesdays are the worst days now." "W said his mother. "You haven't even met MAiss Bea."
Finn was starting piano lessons.Every Tuesday,at 3:30,right after school.Right when his feet wanted to run and jump.Right when his hands wanted to build his new Star-Blaster.He had the kit with him, just in case Miss Bea wasn't home.
But when the door opened, there was Miss Bea,at home, smiling and wide awake. "Hello there,Finn," she said. "Come in."
Finn sat on the bench near the piano unwillingly. He held on to his Star-Blaster kit.
"That looks like a special box," said Miss Bea. "Is it something new?"
"It's going to be a Star-Blaster," said Finn, "but I have to wait till I get home." He tried not to look bad-tempered when he said it.
"Ah,so you're a builder," said Miss Bea.Then,Miss Bea opened the lid of the piano, saying mysteriously, "It has hammers, which you must be interested in.Stand on the bench and look inside. Now press a key and watch what happens."
The hammers weren't the kind he expected. They were pieces of wood with round ends. The ends were covered with felt(毛氈).And there was a row of strings in front of the hammers.Finn pressed a key and (bong!) a fat hammer hit a fat string. He pressed another key and (bong!) a skinny hammer hit a skinny string.Pressing lots of keys at once made lots of hammers hit lots of strings. It still wasn't a song, but Miss Bea said, "Good job."
Finn sat down and tried more keys. His left hand made low rumbles(隆隆聲),and Miss Bea said it sounded like a rocket explosion. His right hand made high twinkles, and Miss Bea said it made her think of stars. Then Miss Bea had a question. "If you were going to build a piano, how many pieces would you need?"
            注意:
            (1)續寫詞數應為150左右;
