11.When did you last stop to look at a tree?Really look at it ,not merely notice it.Trees play such an important role in our lives and yet day to day we often don' t even notice them;we often take them for granted.Yet if you are looking to strengthen your grounds ,reduce pollution around your school ,improve your children's health and wellbeing and develop your science subject ,then planting trees is certainly the way forward.
The first and most obvious benefit of starting a tree -planting program is the environmental impact.Children are enthusiastic, and often highly knowledgeable about climate change and the main causes of it.They are also interested in projects that can make a difference to their community' s carbon footprints.Planting trees is an easy and long-lasting way to involve pupils and to have a positive impact on the climate.
A tee-planting program also offers teachers the opportunity to discuss biodiversity (生物多樣性) and gives pupils the chance to get involved in an actual example. It' s a real-life science experiment and will provide children with amazing habitats to study in science lessons for years to come.
Planting trees can also have a positive impact on children' s mental health. One in four people in the UK will experience mental health issues at some point in their lives and one in 10 children aged 5-1 6 have a diagnosable (可診斷的) mental health condition ,according to The Children' s Society.Mental health is a complex issue with many causal factors and no simple solutions. However ,according to the Mental Health Foundation ,the opportunity to play and learn in outdoor environments has been quoted in research studies as a significantly positive influence.
Being active will also improve children' s general health and wellbeing,as well as increasing engagement more generally by providing an enjoyable context for learning.Parents and the community ,o,will enjoy the improved beauty of the school grounds.
(1)What can children do to contribute to the community' s efforts to cut carbon footprints?
A.Reduce their daily activities.
B.Attend tree-planting projects.
C.Learn more about climate change.
D.Encourage more people to take action.
(2)How can a tree planting program benefit teachers?
A.By making their classes livelier.
B.By supplying them with habitats to study.
C.By providing them with real examples of biodiversity.
D.By giving them chances to communicate with students.
(3)What can we infer from Paragraph 4?
A.Outdoor activities can benefit children' s mental health.
B.Children' s playtime is reducing gradually in recent years.
C.Planting trees is a perfect way to improve the environment.
D.Few people in the UK pay much attention to mental health.
(4)What can be the best tile for the text?
A.How can schools get involved in tree-planting projects?
B.Children need more care from their teachers.
C.Why should schools be planting trees?
D.Schools should set up new classes.組卷:0引用:1難度:0.5 -

13.Modern day robots may not be as entertaining as R2 D2 or the robot from Lost in Space, but robots are very important to space exploration and are being used in a variety of different ways for several important reasons.
Robots make great explorers on planets, the moon, and other landing areas.Aside from the earth, just about every surface in the solar system is unsafe for humans to explore. The air on most other planets is insufficient for humans to breathe, making it necessary to wear a space suit and oxygen equipment. The temperatures on these surfaces are much too hot or much too cold for any humans to withstand.Plus there would be complications with radiation, weather, and a lack of gravity.Robots have much less limitation in these areas and can survive much longer under these conditions.
Robots are designed for collecting scientific data.Robots are also able to perform many tasks at one time and can process information much quicker and more efficiently.Important scientific projects from detecting minerals, analyzing ground samples,to finding water are all performed much quicker and accurately by robots.
The use of robots has made the cost of space exploration much less expensive than it would cost for humans to do the work.In order to successfully send humans into space we would need to build a vehicle that can not only carry humans, but also enough food and water to keep them alive for the duration of the trip. Moreover, robots have no problems working for hours on end.Robots never complain, they don't require food or water, and they never need a bathroom break.
Over the past 30 years or so there have been many different types of robots used successfully in the exploration of space.Perhaps the most famous and successful robots are Spirit and Opportunity who have both been exploring the surface of Mars. They have both been very successful with experiments on soil and rocks and have even found evidence of water in Mars' history.
(1)Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.The Development of Robots
B.The Discovery of Space Exploration
C.No Robots,No Space Exploration
D.Robots Are Used in Space Exploration
(2)According to the passage, which of the following is NOT true?
A.The use of robots in space exploration costs more than the use of humans.
B.It is dangerous for humans to explore other surfaces in the solar system except the earth.
C.Both Spirit and Opportunity have found the evidence of water on Mars.
D.Many different types of robots have explored the space successfully.
(3)The underlined word "withstand" most probably means "
A.remain

C.defeat
D.develop

14.The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru. From the town of Cachora, which is 161km west of Cusco,it's an 18km walk to Capuliyoc Mountain, then down to Playa Rosalina, where travellers camp for the night.Waking early, travellers then have to cross the Apurímac River and walk uphill to camp close to the ruins. Then, the next morning,it's another 2km walk up to the ruins,3,100 m above sea level. To get back?Well,it's the same way you came.
"I've had people in their 60s and 70s do it," said Juan Barrios,a guide from the Adventure Life company. "But some people come out thinking that because it's only 28km from the drop off they can do it in a day.Six or seven days for the hike is best."
It makes sense, then, that Choquequirao draws only about 30 people a day during the high season(June through August).Compare that to the 2,500 people who arrive each day at the famous Incan city of Machu Picchu.
But for those who make the journey, the rewards(回報(bào))are great:beautiful mountain views at every turn, and the chance to explore the wonderful ruins nearly alone.
Believed to be created around the same time as Machu Picchu,in 1445,Choquequirao is actually larger than better-known Machu Picchu. But very little has been written about Peru's other lost city and researchers are still uncovering new parts of the ruins, leaving life on the mountain relatively untouched.
But officials say that the building of the first cable car(纜車)to Choquequirao will shorten the several-day walk to a 15-minute cable car ride.As a result, the number of travellers that now make the journey each week could turn into 3,000 visitors per day.
Choquequirao is beautiful now because of how untouched it is.Even though the lost city was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Arias Díaz in 1710,the ruins still make you feel as though you're the first to find them. Will it be the same when more travellers flood in (大量涌入)?
(1)What does the first paragraph centre on?
A.How tall Choquequirao is.
B.How to get to Choquequirao easily.
C.What great views Choquequirao has.
D.How hard the trip to Choquequirao is.
(2)In what way is Choquequirao different from Machu Picchu?
A.Choquequirao is older.
B.Choquequirao is quieter.
C.Choquequirao is smaller.
D.Choquequirao is better known.
(3)How are the ruins of Choquequirao?
A.They're still being dug out.
B.They're in a generally poor condition.
C.They're being renewed at the moment.
D.They've been researched internationally.
(4)What does the author think of Choquequirao in the future?
A.It will be more attractive.
B.It will develop at a slow speed.
C.It won't necessarily take a turn for the better.
D.It won't be more popular than Machu Picchu.組卷:105引用:4難度:0.5

15.
A.And I know that I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
B.We all are dissatisfied with something.
C.We all need to stop complaining.
D.There are few things I enjoy more than my geographic isolation.
E.While I may not love where I live, there are plenty of people who are proud to call this place home.
F.Few of my friends understand why I am always complaining.
(1)
I recite those complaints to my parents,my brothers and my friends.Sometimes,it seems like that complains are the common topic in my circle.(2)
Complaining allows us to acknowledge the imperfect things without having to take action. We all have grand ideas about what life would be like if only we had this, did that or lived there. Not everyone in this world, however, has the same philosophy of life. (3)
Complaining may offer relief, but so does acceptance. There is no perfect place or life. There will always be something to complain about.By focusing on dissatisfaction,I risk missing out on precious moments of appreciation. Those times when, during a drive home from airport,I stare at the breathtaking shades of green;at the wooden barns, their paint peeling and faded;and at pieces of farm equipment, massive but with poetry in how they move across the land. When I got home,I stand on my balcony, look up the night sky and see the stars. 19.No Time With a broad smile on her lips,15-year old Sirin rushed to her mom to show off her new painting. But mom raised her eyebrows with eyes wide open, and spoke in an impatient tone, "No time, baby.Right now I am busy with an important talk.Just wait for some time,OK?"
Holding her oil painting, she frowned (皺眉),and then searched for her dad.
"Dad,see what I have done," Sirin announced aloud in a thrilling voice. Her dad turned around while adjusting his tie, grinned at her,and showed his thumbs up!
Immediately, blowing her two cheeks,Sirin replied angrily, "Dad,you haven't seen it yet."
He smiled at her saying, "No time, baby.I will see it later." He just patted her back lovingly, kissed her forehead, and rushed for his office.
She was not a kid to be pleased with simple gesture or smile. She stood there for a few seconds, and then stormed off to her own bedroom.Hot air was blowing from her nostrils (鼻孔);her face turned into apple red.She threw the painting on the table, slammed (把……砰地關(guān)上) the door and threw herself on her bed.
"Why is everybody so busy?" She recalled thousands of incidents that hurt her in pre-school,middle school and even in high school too!She assumed at least her own family members would give some values to her thoughts, but they were no exception.Unconsciously, her eyes were filled with tears.
The knocking sound on the door put a sudden brake to her thought. Her mom was calling her for dinner.Sirin came late to join them on purpose. She kept silent and didn't look at anyone, scratching(刮) the table mat with her nail. Her mom was puzzled at the unusual behavior.Suddenly, the morning incident clicked in her mind.Softly, she asked, "Honey, did I do anything wrong?"
Para 1:At this very moment,Sirin could no longer resist her anger.
Para 2:When back from school the next day,Sirin was surprised to see her beautifully-decorated painting on thewall.
