          • 12.If you have a smartphone, you probably use its front-facing camera for selfies (自拍) and the occasional video call. You might use your next smartphone's front camera for the same thing, but there's a chance that the camera won't completely turn off once you're done with it.
This week, chipmaker Qualcomm revealed its latest Snapdragon processor (處理器),which will power many of the high-end Android smartphones that you'll see in stores in 2022,including models from Motorola,Sony and OnePlus. And a new feature built into that chip could allow smartphone makers to keep those front-facing cameras on all the time in a sort of low-power mode, waiting and watching for a face to appear in front of it.
The idea of a camera that stays on as long as your phone does seems deeply unsettling, even in an age where people are convinced that smartphones are already overheard(偷聽)on our conversations. So why is a company responsible for building the brains of our smartphones trying to make "always-on" cameras a common feature?
In time,a phone using this new chip could actually unlock itself when it sees your face, and automatically lock itself again when you're not looking at it anymjye.aie.Or,if it sees someone else's face next to yours, the phone could automatically hide notifications (通知) so no one else can see what your incoming emails or Slack messages are about. The benefit of a phone is that it knows to act differently when you're not looking back.
As it turns out,the Qualcomm tech that could make such features possible is conceptually pretty basic. "What's happening here is to find out:is there a face,or is there not a face," Heape told me. "There is not a photograph taken. There is no video being recorded." He also said that none of camera data leaves the chip when it's being analyzed (分析) for faces.

(1)Why does the author mention "selfies" and "video call" in paragraph 1?

            A.To advertise a product.
            B.To draw a conclusion.
            C.To make a comparison.
            D.To lead to the topic.
(2)What is special about the latest Snapdragon processor?

            A.It ensures a longer stay-on time.
            B.It prevents users being overheard.
C.It is fit for all Android smartphones.
D.It keeps the front-facing cameras always on.
(3)What may be people's attitude to the new feature of the new smartphones?

            A.Favorable.
            B.Worried.
            C.Positive.
            D.Critical.
(4)What could be inferred from Heape's words?

A.Smartphones with the new chip are safe to use.
B.Smartphones with the new chip will be popular.
C.Face analyzing data are kept through the Internet.
D.Private needs are considered to make the new features.

          • 13.    Born in 1916,Ms.Cleary grew up and became a librarian. One day in the library,a boy leaned across the counter and asked her,"Where are the books about kids like us?" She realized there weren't many books about ordinary kids.So she set out to write them.
Ms.Cleary's first book,"Henry Huggins",came out in 1950.It told the story of a boy and the dog that he takes in.Henry Huggins was an ordinary third-grade r whose hair looked "like a scrubbing brush".But the book, with its funňy,lovable characters, was a hit.Soon Ms.Cleary wrote more books about Henry Huggin s and the other children in his neighborhood. One of those children became an even bigger star than Henry Huggins.Ramona Quimby, also known as "Ramona the Pest",became Ms.Cleary's best known character.Ramona is curious and stubborn, and is always getting into trouble.

Being overweight most of my adult life,I always had very little self-confidence.Wearing a dress I didn't like to such an important event was enough to make me look for help.Thankfully,a friend of mine was attending Weight Watchers meetings, and I noticed her great progress. Her successinspiredme to give it a try.I joined Weight Watchers, attended their meetings and started following their Weight-Loss System.
I focused on the plan with determination and never missed a weekly meeting!I discovered that I enjoyed the benefits of having the help and support of others.I also read the weekly online e-newsletter and was inspired by the stories, recipes and information offered there,I also read magazines produced by Weight Watchers, which have great tips and new ideas in each issue.
It's hard for me to even remember the person I was before my amazing change.I didn't walk anywhere and couldn't wash my car or walk my dog.Today I do these simple tasks without even thinking about them. But the change didn't happen overnight.I had to exercise with patience and perseverance(堅持).I decided to take it one day at a time and stick with if for good.
The"new me"is more self-confident and healthier.I love how I feel now.I have more energy and feel like I'm 25 again. So why not give Weight Watchers a try if you have the same overweight problem?

          • 15.Some kids find it hard to lose in a game, but everyone needs to learn how to deal with it.Learning to lose without losing your cool is a skill.Like learning to ride a bike, you might not be able to do it at first, but over time it will get easier.(1)
Everyone wants to win.But any time two teams or kids are facing each other in a game or contest, someone will lose.Losing is disappointing,so it's not surprising that kids don't like it.(2)
So what should you do when you lose?
The best thing to do is try to control your emotion and get in line with your teammates,so you can congratulate the other team.If you feel like crying later or you want to complain about the game, you can do that.(3)
After a little time passes, you might not feel as upset as you were right when the game ended.
Sometimes kids lose on their own, like in a neighborhood game of basketball. These situations can be especially hard if there are no grownups around to be the referees(裁判).(4)
It's good for kids to learn to play without a grownup deciding everything but it can also lead to a lot of arguing.
               (5)
Some kids might cheat or bend the rules, but you can do your best to be fair.Even if they're not,you certainly won't be accused of cheating or playing unfairly. You've done your part to bring good sportsmanship to the game.

            A.Adults don't like it either.
B.Learn the rules of the game.
C.But you'd better do it off the field.
D.Then it's up to kids to decide among themselves.
E.Kids don't like playing with someone who gets angry easily.
F.It's best if everyone tries to be fair to solve any disagreements.
G.And when you can handle losing, people will call you a good sportsman.
